Tobias Harris has shown his mettle ever since being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers to be part of that strong starting core, and his rapport with general manager Elton Brand has proved just as strong, boosting his chances to stick around in The City of Brotherly Love after the season concludes.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Harris raving about the first-year GM, along with his strong play in the 14 games he has worn the uniform, could be a good sign for the negotiations to come this summer.

The Sixers are [9-5] since he arrived, with a net rating that has been slightly improved from before (3.2 with him, three without, and that includes eight games without Embiid when he was out with a knee injury). In terms of the early stages of the Harris-Sixers relationship, it’s probably a good sign for this summer’s negotiations that a source close to Harris recently raved about first-year general manager Elton Brand.

Harris is posting eerily similar numbers compared to his days in Los Angeles, averaging a shade under 20 points per game along with a strong 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists, all while shooting a dangerous 38.8 percent from deep and over 50 percent from the field in his short time with the team.

His adaptability, demeanor and willingness to seamlessly fit in Brett Brown's offensive system have been a boon for what seemed like a band of misfits thrown together before his arrival.

Harris' shooting and off-the-ball work have beautifully complemented Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons' game, while allowing Butler to get isolation looks without any frustration coming from his frontcourt partner.

The Sixers expressed their intent on keeping all four of their stars for next season, as Butler and Harris will be due for long-term contracts this offseason.
