Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is quite the character, and he was in fine form in the first half against the New York Knicks.

Embiid took a charge on a Lance Thomas drive, but there was barely any contact and the giant Embiid tumbled down like he took a huge hit. The big man knew he got away with one and could only laugh after the call:

This was quite the epic flop, and Embiid's reaction was perfect.

There was some question about Embiid's status ahead of Sunday's matinee at Madison Square Garden. He missed the Sixers' last contest against the Atlanta Hawks, a game in which Philly really missed its star big man. The Sixers lost 123-121 and allowed nearly 56 percent shooting.

While Embiid is a jokester, his play is no joke. The 7-footer is having an MVP-caliber season, posting averages of 26.9 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.9 blocks in 33.7 minutes per game. The 24-year-old is a monster on both ends of the floor and the key cog for the Sixers.

Philly entered Sunday's game with a 27-16 record, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. At the time of this writing, Joel Embiid had poured in 20 points through three quarters against New York.
