Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid is anything but your typical NBA player. As it turns out, even the Sixers big man's pregame routine is out of the ordinary.

The 24-year-old Cameroonian was caught on camera watching an episode of the popular cartoon show “Rick and Morty” as he was being treated on the trainer's table moments before tip-off ofn their opening-night matchup against the Boston Celtics.

That's one way to get ready for a ballgame. Perhaps for Embiid, some cartoons help him get his mind right as he prepares to do battle.

Moments later, Embiid was also photographed viewing some game film. While this is definitely a more conventional sight for most, what makes the 7-footer's approach rather different is the fact that he is still on his phone watching cartoons, while reviewing film.

I wonder how Embiid was able to focus on this overly captivating episode while there's the distraction of game film as well as his teammates warming up in the background. I just hope Embiid didn't miss out on any of the important bits from the episode. That would have been a disaster.

After his little viewing party, Embiid went out and put up 23 points on 9-of-21 shooting, one 3-pointer, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks, and five turnovers. Despite a stellar showing from the All-Star, the Sixers fell to the Celtics by a final score of 105-87.

The C's have drawn first blood in this budding rivalry this year, though Embiid doesn't think it's much of a rivalry at this point given Boston's success.
