It is no secret that Los Angeles Lakers legendary shooting guard Kobe Bryant is a staple of Philadelphia culture. Going to high school in the Philadelphia area at Lower Merrion High School, the late Bryant always showed his support for the “City of Brotherly Love” professional sports teams while quickly becoming a major rival of his hometown Sixers.

Even so, Bryant always had a place in Philly while his hometown has wasted absolutely no time in honoring the longtime Lakers superstar, who tragically passed away as the result of a helicopter accident over the weekend.

On Monday evening in Philadelphia, the Sixers honored Bryant by suiting up in Nos. 8 and 24 warm-up jerseys prior to taking on the Golden State Warriors. This hardly comes as a surprise, though, as each NBA franchise continues to honor Bryant in their own unique ways with his sudden passing coming as an unexpectedly devastating surprise.
