Arsenal have completed turned things around this term and now find themselves in the race for a Champions League spot. However, they've managed to do so without a true number nine who can consistently put goals in the back of the net.

The Gunners cut ties with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his form dwindled at the Emirates and now he's thriving at Barcelona. Alexandre Lacazette meanwhile, simply isn't producing the goods. That being said, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta knows his side must make signing a striker a huge priority this summer after Juventus beat them to the punch in January for Serbian wonderkid Dusan Vlahovic.

Via Fabrizio Romano:

“Now is the moment we have to raise the quality. We need one who puts the ball in the net, that's priority number one. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad.”

It's unknown who Arsenal could target at the moment, but there's definitely no shortage of money to spend. A name that has been on their radar is Benfica frontman Darwin Nunez, who is lighting up Portugal and emerging as one of the more exciting young attackers in world football.

To put their lack of finishing up top into perspective, the Gunners' leading scorer is midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe with nine goals. Bukayo Saka, who typically plays adjacent to Rowe on the right flank, has also netted seven times and laid on four assists. These two are a fine duo, but Arsenal needs a proven striker to add to the mix.
