After a successful career with Dutch giants Ajax where he helped them make a Cinderella Run to the 2019 Champions League semifinals, Matthijs de Ligt made an €85 million move to Juventus that summer. While he's dealt with his fair share of injuries since arriving in Turin, de Ligt has been rather solid for the Old Lady when on the pitch. However, he almost ended up elsewhere.
de Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola, recently spoke to Sport 1 and revealed that his client was on the verge of joining German champions Bayern Munich before negotiations broke down and he ultimately became a Juventus player. Via Fabrizio Romano:

The Netherlands international in a Bayern shirt would be a scary sight, considering just how strong the club already is. Nevertheless, Juventus is undoubtedly happy to have de Ligt anchoring their backline on a rather consistent basis. He's made 13 appearances this term for Max Allegri's side, who played to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Venezia on Saturday.
Juventus are currently in sixth place in the Serie A table and a whole 10 points off league leaders AC Milan.
