McKennie sustained the broken foot during Juventus' Champions League clash against Villareal and has been sidelined since. There was some hope he'd be able to return before the season ended, but Allegri has poured cold water on those hopes with his latest update on the midfielder. Allegri revealed that McKennie's season was over, but assured fans that the young midfielder would be able to return next season once he's recovered from his broken foot.
The Texas native will also miss the remainder of the USMNT's World Cup Qualifying matches, though he's expected to be good to go in time for the World Cup in Qatar in November. This season for Juventus, McKennie featured in 20 Serie A matches, starting 15, as well as making Champions League appearances. He's scored 3 goals in league play this season and 4 in all competitions, featuring in a total of 28 matches.
After spending four seasons in Germany playing at Schalke, McKennie joined Juventus in 2020-21. He's made 46 starts and 74 appearances for Juventus, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists. His absence will be a significant blow not only for Juventus' midfield but the United States squad too, as the team looks to round out its World Cup qualifying matches at the end of March.
