Liverpool will pay a total of around €100 million for the Uruguayan, who is coming off a breathtaking season with Benfica. He bagged 26 league goals in 28 appearances while also netting six times in 10 Champions League outings. Nunez is one of the brightest young talents in Europe and he now joins a club with an already lethal attack. Manchester United was also very interested in the 22-year-old, but they gave up their pursuit once the Merseysiders were willing to pay nine figures.
Although Sadio Mane wants to leave Liverpool this summer, Klopp still has the likes of Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Roberto Firmino as his options in the final third. Diaz, who arrived from Porto in January, has flourished at the club. Hopefully, Nunez can also adjust seamlessly like his former Primeira Liga rival.
Reds fans will surely be buzzing over this latest addition but it could be difficult for Darwin Nunez to find consistent minutes if Mane ultimately stays put. Liverpool has turned down two different bids from Bayern Munich for the Senegalese international. That being said, if Nunez comes in and quickly makes his presence felt on the Merseyside, he'll certainly find himself on the pitch more often than not.
