Tottenham striker Harry Kane has lauded Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk as the best player who he has played against in the Premier League.

During a question-and-answer session with Prime Video Sport, Kane was asked on just who is the best talent he has ever faced in England’s top flight. Without much hesitation, the England international went with van Dijk.

“Obviously, [Virgil] Van Dijk is a fantastic defender,” Kane said. “He's been consistent now for Liverpool over many years and he won the Premier League and won the Champions League.

“So, he's a tough defender, and he's doing great this year after his injury last year.”

Kane has met a multitude of standout center-backs on the pitch over the course of his career with Tottenham in league play, from battling with longtime Chelsea center-back John Terry to now clashing with keen defenders such as Manchester City center-back Ruben Dias. Still, for Kane, van Dijk tops them all.

Van Dijk was already well renowned as one of the more durable defenders in the Premier League during his three-season run with Southampton. His career has skyrocketed ever since joining Liverpool over the 2018 winter transfer window, which has included a multitude of individual honors and four total trophies won so far.

Van Dijk has so far featured in 26 fixtures in all competitions this season. He is set for key tests later this month, which include the first leg of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash with Inter Milan.
