Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly on the verge of getting axed as Manchester United manager. However, it appears that the club is still sticking with him at least for now.
Manchester United has earmarked several “potential candidates” to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club's manager following the derby loss to Manchester City. But at the moment, the Red Devils are “no closer to making a managerial change” as they are “reluctant to sack” the Norwegian “without a contingency plan,” Manchester Evening News reported.
Per the report, Solskjaer does his usual routine of flying back to Norway with his family to enjoy a short break during this time of the season–the international break. In fact, the report added that the 48-year-old has now flown back to Kristiansund Airport on “a private jet” with his wife and two sons.
Addressing his situation after the Manchester City defeat, Solskjaer said that he's not thinking about getting fired as Manchester United boss. Instead, he is just focused on helping the club get back to its winning ways.
“No, I don't start to do that,” Solskjaer said of the possibility of getting fired via Marca. “I'm sure when we come back, the players will be fresh in their mind after internationals. The demands on me and the players are going to be high, the expectations.”
“We've been in this situation a few times, of course, since the last game we played here [against Liverpool] it has been a very difficult period,” he added. “We need to be on the front foot more, I can't look at myself and say this is the way I want Manchester United to play.”
