Ousmane Dembele may have just made up his mind regarding whether he wants to stay with Barcelona or leave.
To this day, things have not been concrete between Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele. The 24-year-old has not inked a fresh set of terms with the club despite numerous reports in the past suggesting that there has been mutual interest between all parties involved.
Hinting at what's about to happen, Dembele has recently shared a close-up photo of Barcelona's badge in a post on Instagram. This has been viewed by many as a sign that the Frenchman has decided to stick with the club.
It is believed that the Spanish club is hoping to get Dembele's contract extension done sooner rather than later, or the club will lose him for free at the end of the season.
According to famed transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Dembele is now “in advanced talks” with the Catalans.
As for the stance of Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta on Dembele's situation, the pair both agree that the player will be playing a huge role now that club is trying to recuperate from Lionel Messi's departure.
“With good work he can be the best player in the world in his position,” Xavi said of Dembele via Sport. “He has some spectacular attributes. It’s very important to have a winning mentality, and to perform. His contract renewal is a priority right now.”
“We have a very good relationship with Dembele and he wants to stay,” Laporta told TV3 via Marca. “We also want him to stay because he's a great player. “These situations need negotiations with representatives who want the best for the player. I'm enthusiastic about Dembele. He's a better player than [Kylian] Mbappe.”
