The new Splatoon 3 Return of the Mammalians Salmon Run Next Wave Trailer introduced brand-new enemies and a cool new mechanic.

The February 9 Nintendo Direct showcased a lot of trailers for upcoming Nintendo Switch games. One of these games is Splatoon 3, one of Nintendo's mainline IPs. For this new Splatoon 3 Trailer, we got a glimpse of what the Salmon Run game mode will be like for the upcoming game. Salmon Run is a four-player cooperative game mode introduced in Splatoon 2. Your group of Inklings beat off waves of Salmonids, picking up their eggs, and taking them back to base. While Splatoon is known for its intense 4v4 competitive matches, this game mode allows for a more social PvE experience that you can play with your friends.

In the next wave of Salmon Run, the game mode is featuring new mechanics and boss enemies. Such boss enemies include the Fish Sticks, the Flipper-Flopper, and a mysterious giant fish that was teased at the end of the trailer. Apart from new boss enemies, the game mode also introduces the ability to throw salmonid eggs. This allows players to employ tactics to allow them to save eggs right before dying, throw the eggs to an ally above them, or even throw the eggs directly to the egg basket.

Splatoon 3 is going to be released on an unspecified date this Summer 2022.
