Davis Bertans is by no means a great player. He’s someone who the San Antonio Spurs can easily find a replacement for in the summer should they let him go via free agency. However, finding someone who’s as careful with the leather as Bertans is going to be easier said than done for San Antonio.

A glance at the 2018-19 season stats categories would reveal Bertans as the player with the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league this past campaign. Bertans finished the season averaging only a turnover per 6.0 dimes dished out. It’s a sweet number, especially for Bertans who’s not really known for his playmaking abilities. Perhaps, it’s a testament more to his patience and discipline whenever he has the rock, similar to a poker player who does not easily go all-in whenever he gets dealt with a good hand.

While understanding that the assist-to-turnover ratio stat is adjusted relatively, it still is worth noting that Bertans does not get plenty of touches on offense, so naturally, he’ll commit fewer miscues than most players. He averaged only 14.1 minutes and just 24.2 touches per game last season.

The 25-year-old Bertans concluded his second season with the Spurs with numbers of 5.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.3 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 77 games played, including 10 starts.
