The battle between the first and second picks of any draft class is always a fantastic sight that most fans want to see. This is why when the schedule dropped a lot of individuals circled the matchup day between the San Antonio Spurs and the Portland Trail Blazers. Victor Wembanyama might be one of the two contenders in the ROTY race but Scoot Henderson can pop off at any time. This even prompted Gregg Popovich to unveil his preparations for beating the second-overall pick, via Sean Highkin.

“None. Did you check our record? Do you think I’m going to watch a tape on him? He seems like a hell of a player. I’m just telling you the truth,” the Spurs head honcho declared.

Scoot Henderson is showing some growth in the Blazers system. He may not be the bonafide star that was promised yet but serviceable performances are coming out of his outings. Averages of 11.1 points on a 36.9% clip from all three levels of scoring prove he can be a lethal threat. His dimes which amount to 4.5 per game also mean he could be an elite facilitator down the line.

Victor Wembanyama, meanwhile, has been doing wonders for Gregg Popovich's Spurs despite their record. He has racked up a double-double with 18.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest. All of these were accomplished on a 43.3% field goal shooting percentage in his rookie campaign. The clash between him and Henderson will surely be a sight to see.

But, the Spurs nation might know who will come out on top.
