Year after year, the San Antonio Spurs are always in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race no matter who is on the roster. That's something Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has a lot of respect for.

The Spurs and Heat face on Wednesday in South Beach. Spoelstra says he's “amazed” how many times the Spurs have been able to reinvent themselves and still be a great team.

Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard are no longer on the Spurs. However, head coach Gregg Popovich is still coaching and he is all San Antonio really needs to be effective.

DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are the two best players on the Spurs now. While both All-Stars aren't superstars in the NBA who can lead a team to a championship, they are good enough to lead the team to the playoffs in the rugged Western Conference and possibly win a series.

Some around the league believe DeRozan is playing the best basketball of his career at the moment. Whether he admits it or not, DeRozan is thriving with the Spurs alongside Aldridge, who has found a new weapon with his long-range shooting.

Aldridge’s emergence as a perimeter threat has opened up the floor for DeRozan and the Spurs. As a result, DeRozan is scoring the ball at will since there are so many driving lanes for him to attack.
