One offseason ago, LaMarcus Aldridge was unhappy with the San Antonio Spurs and asked Greg Popovich for a trade straight to his face. Just a year later, Aldridge is more than happy with the Spurs and can envision himself staying there for the duration of his NBA career.

According to a tweet from The Undisputed's Maddy Skye, Aldridge kept it short and simple when asked if that's a real possibility.

After an up-and-down start to his time in San Antonio, Aldridge started to hit his stride in the 2017-18 season. He averaged 23.1 points per game, five points more than his previous high for the Spurs. He also shot 51 percent from the field while chipping in 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

Those numbers were huge jumps from his 2016-17 averages of 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds on just 47 percent shooting. While the absence of Kawhi Leonard definitely helped Aldridge's usage rate, he was still playing the best basketball of his Spurs career.

Popovich opened up about the trade request and how they were able to use it as a turning point in their relationship. There were numerous dinners and meetings between the two as they worked to repair a relationship that had quickly gone sour.

Not only did clearing the air help Aldridge to a monster 2017-18 season, but it may also have solidified his loyalty to the Spurs for the remainder of his career. That would be a big win for a coach and a franchise who just had one of the best players in the league force his way out of town.
