It was another glass-half-full kind of a night for the San Antonio Spurs, as they fell to the Denver Nuggets, 132-120, but saw their prized rookie once again impress. Victor Wembanyama put together a historic performance in defeat and was later showered with lofty praise by arguably the best player in the game today.

“He's not getting scared or tired,” Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic said on Sunday after facing the French phenom for the first time, per Paul Garcia of Project Spurs.

“He's playing hard and he wants to be good…He's making mistakes, which is normal. I think the media around him doesn't help, but he's going to get used to it because the guy is 19 years old. He's going to change the game, 100 percent. He's already on that path, so for all of the guys just enjoy and watch the show and let the guy change the game.”

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama is on excellent trajectory

Wembanyama recorded 22 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and four blocks in just 25 minutes of action. Yes, he shot only 41.2 percent from the field, but his impact and progression cannot be ignored. The teenager is quickly acclimating himself to the NBA and has the tools to eventually iron out his inconsistent stroke. Once he reaches his prime, both physical and talent wise, Jokic's grand proclamation could be proven true.

For the time being, though, the reigning NBA Finals MVP himself is the one revolutionizing the sport. He was one assists shy of yet another triple-double, while scoring 39 points on 17-of 29 shooting and grabbing 11 rebounds. Nikola Jokic is paving the way for Victor Wembanyama to potentially become the next mind-boggling center who constantly stumps opposing teams.

First and foremost, however, the Spurs (3-14) have to remember what it feels like to win. They look to snap a 12-game losing streak on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks (8-8).
