Kawhi Leonard leaving the San Antonio Spurs was like a bad breakup. The initial reports of Leonard's dissatisfaction came as a surprise to many, which led to a drawn-out out divorce that ended up reflecting poorly on Leonard and the Spurs.

Now that Leonard is making his much-anticipated return to San Antonio to take on his former team, he's showing some remorse for how the breakup transpired. Of course, in true Kawhi fashion, he was short in his remarks:

“At times, yeah. But it's a new year, new season,” Kawhi Leonard said when asked if he wishes things went down differently with the Spurs. “I'm just looking at what's in front of us right now.

“Probably in the beginning, but like you said, I accepted where I'm at and what opportunity we have here in Toronto,” Leonard told reporters when asked if it will feel surreal to play against the Spurs.

And of course, when asked if he's spoken to Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich lately, Leonard responded, “Not recently.”

Kawhi Leonard isn't much for brash statements. As expected, he didn't offer up much to reporters before his showdown with his former team. The superstar forward is reminding everyone why he's one of the best players in the NBA. He is a suffocating defender, utilizing his long reach and razor-sharp instincts to shut down the best players in the league.

Furthermore, Kawhi Leonard is a dominant offensive player who is flourishing in the Raptors' system under head coach Nick Nurse.
