When you talk about dynasties in the NBA, the first two teams that are likely to come to mind are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. This is only natural simply because these two teams are the two top franchises in the league in terms of championships won. Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls and of course, the present-day Golden State Warriors are also often mentioned when it comes to the most influential dynasties in the history of the sport. Often overlooked are the San Antonio Spurs, a team that dominated the NBA for many years during the late 1990s and the 2000s.

San Antonio icon Tony Parker, who himself won no less than four rings as a prominent member of the Spurs dynasty, has now spoken out about this travesty. The former six-time All-Star acknowledged that the Spurs are indeed overlooked at times. However, he does not mind this one bit:

“To a certain extent. But in the world of basketball, everybody knows we had an unbelievable run, maybe one of the best runs in 20 years in the NBA, if you look at playoffs and all that kind of stuff and all the success we had over the years,” Parker said, via Prince J. Grimes of USA TODAY SPORTS. “I understand that we talk about the Bulls, Lakers, Celtics, Warriors — it doesn’t bother me because when I go home, I have my four rings too. So, I will put them against anybody.”

Spoken like a true champion. The experts and the pundits can overlook the Spurs all they want but at the end of the day, the real ones know that Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, the great Tim Duncan, and the rest of the Spurs dynasty have certainly made their mark in the history of the game.
