The Detroit Pistons have once again missed the playoffs for the seventh time in the past eight years. A lot of questions now surround them and some decisions have to be made by their top brass, led by Stan Van Gundy.

The 57-year-old head coach and team president admitted, to the Associated Press via USA Today Sports, that one thing he needs to address is how his starting center approaches every game, especially when they are vying for a playoff spot. Van Gundy said Andre Drummond still lacks sense of urgency, despite already being in the league for five years now.

“I think that he needs to have a sense of urgency to elevate his game. He's been in the league five years now. He's still young. He hasn't turned 24. So he's got time. He's a very talented guy. He's been one of the elite rebounders in the league. He's got some great things to work with, but there's more there. The sky is the limit for him.”

Van Gundy also hinted that there will not be a lot of moves the team will make come summertime, and will only focus on their situation at the point guard position, as well as their current personnel.

“I don't think we're broken. I think getting our point guard situation back to where it was, or even better, is more than feasible, and I think corrects a great deal of the problems that we're talking about. And then I think our roster's pretty good from there. I really do.”

With the Pistons season now over, it will give them the chance to think things through and plan their next moves. Despite Drummond being rumored to be traded last February, he is still with the team, and based on Van Gundy's statement, he will likely stay put and just needs to change his mindset about games moving forward.
