Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has made headlines over the last few days behind his comments that he feels that he's earned the right to publicly criticize his teammates when he feels it's necessary.
It is something that his teammates have weighed in on with largely positive feedback. This includes All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown voicing that he supports his quarterback and sees it as constructive criticism to help make him better on the field. (h/t Bryan Deardo of 247 Sports)
“I’ve got big shoulders,” Brown responded. “I can take it. Constructive criticism is only for you to get better. It’s not personal. He’s here to challenge you. He’s here to make you better. He’s my guy.”
There is clearly no rift between these two with the approach that Roethlisberger has continued to take. Brown has his back, which has likely been fueled by the number of years that both players have played next to each other.
There is a strong bond that has helped them experience much success while being major factors in helping the Steelers continue to be among the best teams in the league.
Although it isn't the preferred method that Roethlisberger gets his message across to his teammates, there doesn't appear to be any pushback with how he has conducted himself. Instead, the team has remained firmly behind him and with Brown's comments supporting him, it speaks loudly about how the rest of the locker room feels about the entire matter
Ultimately, what this comes down to is the team getting the type of results they want on the field in the win-loss column with them pushing more toward the former. As long as they are taking strides forward, there won't be any disgruntlement from Brown or any other Steelers players this season moving forward.
