Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger revealed why he wears the number 7 and it came right after he passed a former number 7 on the all-time list of game-winning drives, John Elway. Roethlisberger now has 41 game winning drives which surpassed Elway after the Steelers beat the Jaguars this past Sunday in shocking fashion after overcoming a 16-point deficit.

In an interview with ESPN staff writer Jeremy Fowler, Roethlisberger spoke about Elway.

“A hero of mine growing up. Anytime you get in the record books, it's humbling and means a lot. When your name is as close to his and you get to pass him, it's just an honor.”

The Steelers and Broncos face off this upcoming Sunday at Mile High Stadium and Roethlisberger is 3-5 against the Broncos in his 15-year career. The Steelers are 7-2-1 this season while the Broncos are 4-6, and in their last 17 road games the Steelers are 15-1-1. Things are trending in the direction of Pittsburgh doing fairly well against the struggling Broncos.

The Steelers quarterback praised one of his childhood idols further, via Fowler.

“Just such a big arm. Not really a runner but would run. I think that's kind of been my game. I'm not a running quarterback, but you're not afraid to run and get the yards when you need to. Those kind of things I kind of just mold my game after. I wish my arm was as strong as his, though.

“Any time you go into a place that's had a legendary type quarterback that I grew up watching, it is kind of special.”
