The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted quarterback Kenny Pickett with the 20th overall pick at the 2022 NFL Draft. The franchise was clearly in need of a quarterback as future Hall of Fame QB Ben Roethlisberger finally hung his cleats up. On CBS’ show We Need to Talk, Pickett opened up regarding the advice and words of wisdom Roethlisberger provided him.

“I had a great talk with him. He just told me to be myself and be the best player that I could and that’s kind of how simple it is. The outside noise of everyone looking in on that will make it however they want to turn it. But I just know I need to handle my business and play the game the way I know how to play, and everything else will take care of itself.”

Roethlisberger played in Pittsburgh for 18 years, winning two Super Bowls and was a six-time Pro Bowl player. Any time you can get some advice from a legend in the game, it’s generally a good idea to listen.

Pickett was the first quarterback taken in this year’s draft. Overall, it was not considered a great quarterback draft, but Pickett aims to prove everyone wrong. Interestingly, he commented that he does not like the cold. He was recognized as the college QB who played in every possible climate. Well, whether he likes the cold or not, he is going to continue to see plenty of it with the Steelers.

Pickett is set to begin training camp in a battle with Mitchell Trubisky for the starting job.
