With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic forcing many NFL players to self-quarantine, getting in a good work out in has become a bit more difficult. However, despite the uncertainty facing major sports across the country, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington has found a creative way to stay in shape in the last few weeks.

In a recent interview with Teresa Varley of Steeler.com, Washington revealed how he is getting a great workout while also practicing social distancing.

The 24-year-old Steelers pass-catcher recently purchased a 26-acre farm in his hometown of Abeline, Texas. The grueling work required to maintain such a farm while also combining traditional at-home workouts has allowed Washington to stay in shape and even cut down from 213 pounds to a leaner 205.

“I am always out running sprints in front of the house. I have a big yard and it's pretty flat,” James Washington said. “Usually I will just run the sprints and then run some routes. I don't have anyone throwing to me. I am ordering a Jugs machine so I will have an accurate ball every time.

“As far as lifting, the other day I was trimming trees around here and I don't know if I ever felt my lats burn as much as they did when I was trimming trees and moving big old logs and stuff. For sure nature is giving me the best workouts.

Last season for the Steelers, the second-year pro had a much larger role than he did as a rookie. The 5-foot-11 receiver caught 44 passes for team-high 735 yards and three touchdowns.
