The Pittsburgh Steelers announced, on Wednesday, that they have been awarded wide receiver Brandon Reilly off of the waiver wire. They also waived cornerback Alexander Myres to make room for him.

Undrafted coming out of Nebraska in 2017, Reilly signed on with the Buffalo Bills. He spent most of his rookie year on the practice squad and was released following the season. He signed on with the Detroit Lions, then with the Dallas Cowboys; where he, again, spent time on the practice squad. Later, Reilly inked a deal with the Lions again, where he was waived to make room for defensive tackle Frederick Jones. Reilly doesn't have an NFL snap to his name.

Reilly's best season as a Nebraska Cornhusker came in 2015. He caught 37 passes for 716 yards and four touchdowns. In the following offseason, he earned a suspension after an August DUI. He dealt with injuries throughout his final year and saw his stat line dip to 21 receptions for 421 yards.

A 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver, Reilly has good size for the position. But, he's a stretch to make the Steelers' 53-man roster. Following the Antonio Brown trade, Pittsburgh's wide receiver corps isn't the most significant issue on the team. Currently, Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster, Donte Moncrief, Eli Rogers, James Washington, Nick Switzer, and rookie Diontae Johnson are on the team. The six should complete a rebuilt receiving position group.  Meaning, at the end of the day, Reilly may be back on a practice squad in an attempt to get reps in a meaningful football game.
