DeSean Jackson caused some controversy earlier this week after making anti-Semitic posts on his Instagram account. While not many players made comments pertaining to Jackson's posts, Zach Banner of the Pittsburgh Steelers shared his emotional reaction to Jackson's anti-Semitic comments, via his official Twitter account.

During the video, Banner exclaims the importance of everyone uplifting the Jewish community, regardless of what race you associate with.

“This beautiful city of Pittsburgh, . . . and we need to understand Jewish people deal with the same amount of hate and similar hardships and hard times,” Banner said in the video, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. “I’m not trying to get emotional right now, but I want to preach to the black and brown community that we need to uplift them and put our arms around them. Just as much when we talk about Black Lives Matter and elevating ourselves, we can’t do that while stepping on the back of other people to elevate ourselves, and that’s very, very important to me, and it should be important to everyone. . . .

Over the Fourth of July weekend, Jackson made some questionable anti-Semitic posts to his Instagram—including a quote falsely attributed to German dictator Adolf Hitler. The veteran wide receiver of the Philadelphia Eagles has since issued multiple apologies for his actions toward the Jewish community.

Amid the Black Lives Matter movement, equality has become a popular topic and a much-needed one at that. Therefore, while Banner wants to make strides in the Black Lives Matter movement, he also understands that other races or backgrounds have been treated unfairly, too. Without condemning DeSean Jackson, Banner delivered a powerful message that people should take to heart.
