The Steelers are staying in-house with their next GM, intending to announce the hiring of Omar Khan, per Sports Illustrated.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to name their new general manager this week, staying in-house to replace Kevin Colbert. According to multiple reports, the team is set to make Omar Khan their next GM.

Khan, the current vice president of football and administrative operations, has been a member of the Steelers' front office since 2001. He has handled contract negotiations and salary cap management for the franchise since the 2016 season, two important skills he'll need to translate to the GM's chair in Pittsburgh.

Khan will be assuming the role held by Kevin Colbert, who was the Steelers' GM for 22 seasons before he retired after the NFL Draft. He is expected to have current Philadelphia Eagles vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl as his assistant GM.
