The Pittsburgh Steelers are already on their third quarterback of the season and they're hoping they don't have to make it four. Going into Sunday night's game versus the Los Angeles Chargers, Ryan Switzer is Pittsburgh's emergency quarterback.

Of course, Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2, while Mason Rudolph is ruled out for Sunday night's contest versus the Los Angeles Chargers with a concussion.

As a result, undrafted rookie Devlin Hodges will get his first career start in the NFL in Week 6. The team also activated Paxton Lynch from their practice squad to be the team's backup against the Chargers.

However, in case of a catastrophic event that both quarterbacks get hurt, Switzer would be asked to take some snaps from under center. The special-teams player has barely played this season but the team has given him some plays to prep with in practice.

“No. 10 always handles that,” Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner said via Triblive.com's Kevin Gorman. “He always takes snaps before the game. He'll always have the extra wristband off to the side, that type of thing. He might not be able to do as much. There may be a lot on that wrist band that is never called, but there is a lot that you still could do.”

This season, Switzer has caught seven passes for 29 yards for the Steelers. The only thing is, six receptions and all 29 yards of that came in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Without a doubt, the Steelers' quarterback situation has been extremely unfortunate this season. They're just hoping to get out of Sunday night's game without having to play a wide receiver at quarterback.
