With Super Bowl 56 just around the corner, the league is having the award ceremony take place on Thursday night. Some awards have already been given out, but Pittsburgh Steelers' superstar TJ Watt reels in one of the most prominent player achievement trophies the league has to offer.

According to Matt Lombardo, TJ Watt has officially won the Defensive Player of the Year. After recording 22.5 sacks and six forced fumbles, the Steelers star takes home some hardware for all of his hard work.

It was a tremendous season for TJ Watt, as he accomplished that stat line in just 15 of the available 17 games. Watt has been a machine since joining the Steelers and doesn't look like he'll slow down anytime soon. This is the first DPOY award of his career and many more could be in line. Especially if he maintains his incredible pace.

The Steelers are in good hands as long as TJ Watt is in town. Pittsburgh's strength is the defense and that should maintain next year as well. Considering how bumpy of a season they had, this franchise continues to remain competitive, regardless of any situation the roster is going through.

We'll see how the rest of the award show plays out, as some of the league's best players await their turn of potentially winning an award as well. With some exciting players looking to win awards themselves, we should be in for an eventful evening. Between the superstar veterans and the exciting rookie phenoms, the NFL is becoming quite stacked with talent.
