Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has been arguably the best back in the NFL over the past several years. He feels it is time to confirm that notion.

During an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Bell was blasphemed by the host's comments that suggested he was merely a “top 4 or 5 running back” in the NFL:

“Nah, Nah, Nah..that's way too low,” Bell said. “They're all special talents and I can't take anything away from those guys. Each and every year though, it's always me and somebody else. When I first came in it was me and DeMarco [Murray], me and Zeke [Ezekiel Elliot], and then next year it's me and David Johnson. Now this year it was me and Todd Gurley. Every year, I'm always in the conversation.”

Bell added that his unique style of play has attributed to the lack of praise.

“They don't want to give me my respect because I play a lot differently than people are used to seeing.

While Bell's comments may seem a bit boisterous, there is certainly plenty of truth to it. When healthy, the three-time Pro Bowler has been perhaps the most gifted all-around running back in the league. Furthermore, his patient running style has become one of the most notable features of his game.

The argument for best player at a certain position is often a matter of perspective. There is no doubt that Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was the best in the league for the 2017 NFL season. However, Bell has produced a better body of work over the past several years.

That said, there is no doubt that Bell wants to be paid as such by the Steelers this offseason. While his recent threats to retire may have been a bit extreme, he still seems optimistic that a deal will get done early on.
