The Golden State Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 start, which might be surprising to some. For Warriors fans, their record isn't the most shocking thing about the season thus far. Stephen Curry is averaging 29 points per game with 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists. Yes, those are MVP numbers, but two out of the four games, he had below-average games for his standard.

Opening night against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry posted a triple-double for the Warriors but only scored 21 points on 5-of-21 shooting. The Dubs ended up winning that game 121-114. Jordan Poole was one of the standouts in that game as he scored 20 points in the victory. The biggest difference makers were the bench players. Damion Lee and Nemanja Bjelica both scored 15 points each. Bjelica grabbed 11 boards giving him a double-double.

Then there's the Warriors' most recent win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was an ugly win, but at the end of the day, it's still a victory. In that outing, Curry scored 23 points. It wasn't that he had a bad game. It just wasn't a great showing. He was 6-of-14 which is only 42.9 percent.

In a collective effort, the Dubs put together enough points for a comeback victory, winning 106-98. The star of the night was Curry's brother in law Damion Lee. He scored 20 points off the bench. That's the most points scored by a reserve player for the Warriors this season. Without his epic performance, Golden State would have suffered their first defeat.

So far this year, Lee has surprised everyone with his consistency. He's scored in double figures off the bench in each game, and he's finding multiple ways to impact the game positively. Lee is averaging 14.3 points while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 47.1 from deep. With no Klay Thompson, his contributions have been welcomed and needed.

It's only been four games, but every time Curry doesn't have the greatest game, his teammates picked up the slack for him. That hasn't been the case the past two seasons for the Warriors. Usually, when Curry scores a casual 20 points, they typically lose the game.

If Curry is allowed not to be superman the entire season, it can keep him energized and focused on closing games. His teammates need to keep this going if they want to make a postseason run. Accomplishing that should be even easier once Klay Thompson, James Wiseman, and Jonathan Kuminga return.
