Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington were in the news all last week as the two were involved in an altercation outside of a restaurant in Miami. Fellow UFC welterweight Stephen Thompson recently gave his reaction to the situation.

Stephen Thompson has fought Jorge Masvidal in the past and is actually hoping to fight him again. He couldn't help but feel bad for Jorge Masvidal after his loss at UFC 272 against Colby Covington.

“You know what I just wanted to give him a big hug like, I’ve been there, I’ve been there bro. I mean the guy is just constantly taking you down and he’s the guy who just wants to bang. Give him somebody that wants to fight, and that will be a fight of the night,” UFC welterweight Thompson said of Masvidal to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour via MMA Fighting.

“He wasn’t able to pull it off and then you’ve got the fight on the street after the fight. I was like come on man, come on guys, we get paid for this, let’s go! You ain’t gotta be doing that in the street. So, it is what it is.”

Stephen Thompson has a reputation as one of the nicest fighters in the UFC and that continues with his reaction to the Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal altercation. It is not exactly clear what is next for any of the welterweights but they are all hoping for fun fights next. It will have to be seen what the UFC chooses to do with everyone.
