The Connecticut Sun take on the Chicago Sky. Our WNBA odds series has our Sun Sky prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Sun Sky.

The Connecticut Sun are the only unbeaten team remaining in the WNBA. The Sun finished third in the league in the 2023 regular season and appear poised for another top-three finish. The real question is if they can move past at least one of the top two teams in the league from last season, the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and the runner-up New York Liberty. Stacking wins is certainly a step in the right direction, but it should be noted that the Sun have hardly looked dominant. They do have a blowout win at home against the Indiana Fever, but their other games have all been close, decided by single-digit margins. Their two most recent games were decided by fewer than five points. Their last game was a one-point win over the Minnesota Lynx at home. They're not overwhelming their opponents, but they are figuring out ways to win close games in the final moments. Good teams do win most of the close games they play — it is true in any sport — but Connecticut needs to find a way to play fewer close games and not live so close to the margins. The Sun, if they fly too close to the danger zone on a repeated basis, are bound to get sunburned, so to speak.

The Chicago Sky are flying high after their most recent game. They went into New York and outclassed the Liberty, giving the 2023 runners-up their first loss of the 2024 season. Angel Reese is playing defense, grabbing boards, and being a force for Chicago. She scored 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the win over the Liberty. She is making her presence felt as a two-way player. Keep in mind that Chicago beat the Liberty by nine on the road without Kamilla Cardoso, the other first-round draft pick for the Sky in addition to Reese. The Sky are shorthanded but were still able to beat a very strong team on the road. The Sky now get to play their home opener before what should be a raucous crowd.

Why The Sun Could Cover The Spread

Connecticut is the only unbeaten team left in the WNBA. This is true for a reason. You have seasoned, tough, poised veterans on this roster. They don't get rattled. They respond really well to pressure. They are going to have an answer each time the Sky try to make a run. Connecticut wants to make a big statement to the rest of the WNBA that it is ready to ascend past the Aces and Liberty at the top of the league. If the Sun play a mature road game, they should not only win, but cover.

Why The Sky Could Cover The Spread

The point spread for this game seems off. The Sky just hammered the Liberty on the road by nine points as a double-digit underdog. Chicago was a 15.5-point dog before tipoff, so the Sky covered the spread by 24 points, an easy cover. Now the Sky are six-point dogs at home, meaning they would likely be 12 or 12.5-point underdogs if this game was played in Connecticut. Are the Sky really that much worse than the Sun? Chicago is 2-1 overall, hasn't yet played a home game, and is facing a Connecticut team which, while undeniably good, has won twice against the lowly Indiana Fever and once versus the Washington Mystics, the two worst teams in the WNBA. The Sky should certainly be able to keep this game close. They might not win outright, but they'll lose by fewer than six even in a worst-case scenario.

Final Sun-Sky Prediction & Pick

Chicago, getting six whole points in its home opener against a good but not great Connecticut team, is the best play of the Saturday slate in the WNBA.

Final Sun-Sky Prediction & Pick: Sky +6
