The Phoenix Suns own the 22nd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and they can go in several ways with that pick. Phoenix has needs everywhere on their roster, including at point guard and depth in general. They can go about it by standing pat at 22 or try to trade it for a veteran.

But if the Suns stay at the 22nd pick, players like Tyler Kolek, Kyle Filipowski, and Baylor Scheierman stand out as the best options for them in the 2024 NBA Draft.

A new point guard in the desert

Many have postured that the Suns need a point guard dating back to the 2024 NBA trade deadline. Devin Booker did his best at filling that role but Phoenix's offense stagnated way too frequently throughout the year. That issue got put on full blast in the playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Phoenix posted an offensive rating of 109.3, which would've been tied for 26th in the regular season.

Someone who can help diversify Phoenix's offense is Marquette's Tyler Kolek, who is arguably the best playmaker in the 2024 NBA Draft. For his career, Kolek averaged 6.2 assists to just 2.4 turnovers per game. He was above seven assists per game in each of his final two seasons at Marquette and didn't exceed three turnovers.

Kolek isn't just a facilitator either. He prefers to set others up but isn't afraid to call his own number if the situation asks for it. The 23-year-old guard averaged 18.6 points per 40 minutes last season and did so on excellent efficiency. He posted .496/.552/.388/.851 shooting splits in his senior season. Kolek is an outstanding offensive player.

The fit with him in Phoenix could be tricky. Booker and Beal are already small defending on the perimeter and Kolek is only 6-foot-3 and 182 pounds. But he is a necessary steady hand who can help Phoenix create good shots and provides insurance in the event of an injury to Booker or Beal. Kolek would be a great get for the Suns with the 22nd pick.

A versatile big man

Another sore spot for the Suns is their frontcourt. Kevin Durant is obviously amazing, but the Suns didn't have a ton of depth or versatility around him. Jusuf Nurkic is fine but has a ton of shortcomings defensively. Drew Eubanks is nothing more than a backup. Bol Bol is exciting but still prone to mistakes and getting overpowered on the block.

Duke's Kyle Filipowski could fix some of those issues. He can play power forward or center on either end at 7-feet and 230 pounds. Filipowski is a versatile offensive player. He doesn't necessarily shine at any one particular thing, but he can do a bit of everything on that end of the floor.

Filipowski is regarded as a lottery-caliber prospect, but his draft stock is all over the place. It's possible he can fall to the Suns with the 22nd pick. It would be tremendous value for Phoenix if he did.

A sharpshooting veteran

Suns general manager James Jones has been on the record with his philosophy of keeping things tight and having less than 10 players on their draft board. Jones has only made two selections in the first round since taking over that role in 2019. One of those choices was Cam Johnson in 2019, and the other was Jalen Smith in 2020.

Jones can go a similar path he did in 2019 with Creighton's Baylor Scheierman, who is one of the best shooters in this year's draft. He shot 39% from three for his five-year college career at Creighton and South Dakota State. Scheierman did so on legit volume, as he attempted 5.6 threes per game in that span.

The Suns don't have a ton of reliable wings on their roster. Outside of Durant, they're down to the likes of Royce O'Neale (if they re-sign him), Nassir Little, Josh Okogie, and David Roddy. It's possible that O'Neale leaves in free agency, which would put an even larger emphasis on shooting on the wing.

Scheierman would fit that void. He'd be an awesome fit with the Suns with the 22nd pick.
