Since joining the NBA six years ago, Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker is no stranger to putting up a lot of points. He's averaging 24.9 points per game at the halfway point of the season, which isn’t even his highest scoring average of his career so far.

But what has stood out for Booker this campaign is his improved efficiency, as he is shooting 49.6 percent from the field, which is on track to be a career-high. He has improved his shooting in each season and has also made 36.2 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, a better mark than last year’s 35.4 clip.

Following the Suns’ 127-121 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, the 24-year-old made it clear about who is responsible for the bump in his efficiency this season (via Suns beat reporter Kellan Olson).

While Booker has indeed improved his marksmanship in each season, it’s hard not to give Chris Paul credit for it. The Suns’ point guard has no doubt made life easier for his All-Star teammate and has given him easy opportunities to score. And as a vocal leader, the Point God has also likely helped Booker improve his shot selection.

Against the Trail Blazers, the Kentucky product finished with a game-high 35 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field and added five boards and eight assists. Paul complemented his backcourt partner with 19 points, five rebounds, and seven dimes in the Suns’ fifth straight win and 25th overall.

It remains to be seen if Devin Booker can maintain his efficiency and nearly 50 percent shooting from the field in the second half of the season. But with CP3 by his side making his life easier, it’s hard to bet against it.
