The Phoenix Suns' Instagram account expressed its excitement for the start of the 2020 WNBA season while also supporting their sister team, the Phoenix Mercury. Unfortunately, the internet is full of trolls. One dismissed the Suns' comment and said nobody cares about the WNBA.

The Suns' IG page replied and absolutely bodied the troll by invoking Kobe Bryant, who this fan appears to be a huge fan of:

The late Los Angeles Lakers legend was a known advocate of women's basketball. He was championing its advancement following his retirement from basketball all the way to his untimely death at the beginning of this year.

Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash in January. Gianna, more fondly known as Gigi, was a gifted basketball player for her age, and many projected her to follow in her father's footsteps eventually. Kobe fully supported his daughter's love for the game.

The WNBA honored Gigi and her teammates Alyssa Altobelli and Peyton Chester, both of whom also passed in the helicopter crash, by selecting them as honorary draft picks in the 2020 draft. Gigi had openly expressed her dream to become a WNBA player one day.

The 2020 WNBA season officially tipped off on Saturday. All 12 teams gathered together in a bubble in Florida, similar to their NBA counterparts.

The Seattle Storm and New York Liberty kicked off the season by making a statement prior to their opening tip. Players from both teams walked off the floor during the national anthem as a form of protest in support for the Black Lives Matters movement.
