The Phoenix Suns have taken a 3-2 lead against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round series. The Suns have been gotten contributions from almost everyone, most notably backup guard Cameron Payne. He has been playing so well in the NBA Playoffs, even Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has taken notice.

Payne has been highly instrumental in the Suns' back-to-back wins over the Lakers, including in their 115-85 domination in Game 5 on Tuesday. But prior to finding a home with the Suns, Payne was brutally criticized during his stint with the Chicago Bulls, with one unnamed executive even saying he doesn't belong in the NBA.

Well, as Morant pointed out in his post on Twitter, Payne, his fellow Murray State product, is having the last laugh.

Morant knows real talent when he sees one, and Payne can definitely hoop with the best of them in the NBA.

After a subpar performance in Game 1 against the Lakers, the left-handed floor general has averaged 15.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in their last four outings. He also ably stepped up when Suns star guard Chris Paul was hobbled by a right shoulder injury, hitting timely buckets at that.

The 26-year-old Payne, who's enjoying a breakout season, played for two and a half seasons with the Bulls. He, however, only suited up for 97 games, mostly during garbage time. He eventually toiled in China before getting picked up by the Suns last season.

Clearly, Cameron Payne has proved doubters wrong in his renewed opportunity in the NBA, and Ja Morant is all for it.
