Could Phoenix Suns small forward Kelly Oubre Jr. make a surprise return at the Orlando “bubble” games?

It's possible, according to Suns general manager James Jones.

Via Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic:

“Kelly’s been here, he’s been rehabbing and so my expectations for him are the same as every other player, come in every day, practice with the team, work and compete and get yourself in a position to play and hopefully that’s before Orlando ends,” Jones said about Oubre, who is averaging a career-high 18.7 points a game this season.

Oubre is expected to travel with the Suns to Orlando. If the lefty's knee feels good enough to play, we could see the swingman back on the court with Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.

The Suns will be battling it out with the Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings for the final playoff spot out West. No one is really giving Phoenix a chance since the club only racked up 26 wins prior to the season getting suspended.

However, if Oubre can play, that changes things a little bit. He appeared in 56 games for the Suns this season before play was suspended due to COVID-19. Oubre averaged 18.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Suns forward has career NBA averages of 10.9 points and 4.1 rebounds with the Washington Wizards and Suns. He was the 15th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
