The Phoenix Suns are the top team in the Western Conference with a dominating record of 49-12. However, recent blows to their starting lineup could hinder their success moving forward.

Most recently, news broke that Devin Booker has entered the Suns' COVID-19 health and safety protocols. NBA Insider Shams Charania tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon.

Players have seemed to stay away from COVID-19 recently, and Booker's absence comes at a brutal time for the Suns. He is expected to be out until at least March 8.

Meanwhile, the Suns have been forced to play without star Chris Paul. He last played in the Suns' win over the Houston Rockets before the 2022 NBA All-Star Break. The point guard suffered a right thumb avulsion and is expected to be out until at least April 1.

This is the second time this season that Booker has been placed on the Suns' COVID-19 list. In late September, the Suns star tested positive for the virus and missed the beginning of training camp. According to CBS Sports, Booker experienced mild symptoms like loss of taste and smell, but otherwise felt fine.

The Suns will attempt to hold on to their lead in the West without Booker and Paul. The closest team to them is the Golden State Warriors, who are 6.5 games behind. Phoenix takes on the 25-36 Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night in an attempt to continue their dominant season.
