Following the end of the 2018-19 season, the Phoenix Suns have named James Jones as the full-time general manager, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Jones already held the title of interim GM before he was announced as the full-fledged man for the job.

The former NBA journeyman took over the helm of the front office after Ryan McDonough was fired right before the start of the season, leaving him in surveillance of the franchise's executive basketball operations.

Jones traded longtime veteran Trevor Ariza for young wing Kelly Oubre Jr. while also acquiring point guard Tyler Johnson right before the trade deadline.

Getting the full-time stamp of approval for the job will come with plenty of challenges, as the Suns have won 23, 24, 21, and 19 games through each of Devin Booker's first four years in the league — each also having a different head coach in charge of the team.

The Suns have had very little stability throughout the last few years and even less success, finishing with the worst record in the West in the last three seasons.

The hope is that Jones will help the franchise through the upcoming NBA Draft, as it stands an equal 14% chance to muster the No. 1 pick.
