Isaiah Canaan was part of a lot of headlines on Wednesday as he suffered a gruesome leg injury during the game between the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks. While driving hard to the basket, the veteran guard lost his balance and landed awkwardly on his left leg, twisting his ankle badly and had to be stretchered off the floor.
It’s was very tough to watch and the players from both teams couldn’t bear to see him suffer in pain. Even the crowd inside Talking Stick Resort Arena were in shock with what they saw, and the majority of them immediately said some prayers for Canaan. The Twitterverse also erupted with their reactions to the horrible injury he suffered and did not hold back in expressing their feelings about it.

How in the hell is Isaiah Canaan so calm after that? That dude is roughly 6000 times tougher than me.

Isaiah Canaan just suffered the same injury Gordon Hayward did in the opener – or, at least, that's exactly what it looked like. Terrible news.

Best wishes to Isaiah Canaan. Felt the same as seeing it happen to Hayward. Dude is a helluva competitor and he'll bounce back just the same.

It has been confirmed, according to Scott Bordow of AZ Central, that he suffered a fractured tibia and ankle and will need to undergo surgery soon. He had just signed a contract for the remainder of the season with the Suns back in December and has been playing well in 18 games for them. Canaan is averaging 9.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. More importantly, his veteran smarts have been a welcome addition to the young Suns team and he will surely be missed as he recovers from this devastating injury.
More messages and social media posts from members of the NBA community are expected to pour in the next few days as everyone is hoping for the best for Canaan.
