The Phoenix Suns put a stop to their bleeding Saturday with a 108-106 road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was the Suns’ first win in six games, and it wouldn’t have been possible if not for a game-saving block by center Alex Len, who rejected Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler’s layup attempt near the end of the game.

Minnesota got the ball back with just a little over a second remaining on the game clock, but Butler’s last-gasp jumper failed to go in.

Alex Len has slid down the Suns’ frontcourt pecking order with the arrival of Greg Monroe to the team, but with Monroe inactive for the Timberwolves game, Len was able to play 28 minutes. He clearly didn’t disappoint. Apart from swatting away Jimmy Butler’s shot to preserve the win, Alex Len also scored 12 points and flexed his muscle underneath the basket for 19 rebounds. He also had six assists, two steals, and a block.

Even with the victory, the Suns are still just 10-21. They need more wins to get into the playoff picture in the Western Conference, but for Len, games like that give him the morale boost he needs.

On the season, Alex Len is averaging 9.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, and a team-leading 1.1 blocks per game.
