The first season for the North Carolina Tar Heels under head coach Hubert Davis was unbelievably successful. They beat the Duke Blue Devils in Mike Krzyzewski's last home game and in their first-ever matchup in the NCAA Tournament. As an eighth seed, they made it to the National Championship Game behind incredible performances from several players. Armando Bacot returning to UNC became the thought on everyone's mind after their season ended.

Although the Tar Heels came up short in the big game to the Kansas Jayhawks, they had an amazing season. The team's performance and resilience resonated strongly with Bacot. He announced that he is going back to North Carolina to help them finish the job they started this season.

Bacot fought through injury to play in the National Championship Game. He was a beast for them this season and during the tournament, setting records with his unparalleled rebounding abilities. With 16.3 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks during the regular season, Bacot led North Carolina in all three categories.

With Brady Manek's NCAA eligibility now done and Dawson Garcia heading into the transfer portal, the team around Bacot will look differently. North Carolina is still waiting to see the decisions that Caleb Love, Leaky Black and RJ Davis make about their futures.

Still, Davis and Bacot should be enough to get the Tar Heels back to the tournament. Getting back to the final game will be tough for UNC but they now have a battle-tested coach and star player to lead the way.
