Losing to Latvia wasn't as good as Steve Kerr hoped it would be the Americans in the FIBA Men's World Cup. Team USA is now set to face off against Canada in the bronze medal game this Sunday, Sept. 10, after losing in the semifinals to Germany. It will be the last game in an ultimately disappointing tournament for the Americans, but they still have a medal and continental pride to play for. Team USA fell to Germany 113-111 in their semifinal Friday morning, while Canada lost to Serbia 95-86. Both these teams will be playing for a medal, pride, and their last chance at bragging rights over the many NBA players on both rosters before the season gets underway. Here's everything you need to know about Team USA vs. Canada at the FIBA Men's World Cup.

Storylines and Expectations

Team USA will miss the FIBA Men's World Cup Finals for the second time in a row. Noah Lyles was right? North American bragging rights are on the line, and a final competitive matchup before NBA season. These are the biggest storylines heading into the third-place game of the FIBA World Cup between the North American powerhouses. Based on how white-hot both teams started their campaign, a run to the semifinals will still feel like coming up short, especially for the United States, missing out on an opportunity to play for gold for the second straight World Cup cycle.

A lot of conversation around this iteration of Team USA will surely be projected forward and backward rather than staying in the present. There will be lots of screaming on television and the radio about who should've gone to this tournament, how a game should have been coached, and what should happen ahead of the 2024 Olympics. But this team still has one last game in this current interaction. And while they've clearly been a flawed team, they've also been a lot of fun. Team USA looked down and out for much of the second half against Germany before Anthony Edwards and co. They stormed back to within two. Austin Reaves, Mikal Bridges, Jaren Jackson Jr., Tyrese Haliburton, and more all showed that they could be the faces of the league in a few short years.

Can this team pull out one last win, though? Team Canada will be tough to beat in their own right. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been one of the most exciting players in the entire FIBA World Cup. R.J. Barrett is giving Knicks fans renewed hope for the season. And Dillon Brooks is doing Dillon Brooks things. Nothing about this game will be easy, and if Team USA having a 5-2 record and missing out on the finals doesn't convince them of that fact, then they'll go home medal-less, too.
