Brian Flores' bombshell lawsuit against the NFL has taken the league by storm. Flores' lawsuit makes various claims, including allegations of racial prejudice during teams' head coaching hiring process. The former Miami Dolphins head coach alleged that the New York Giants brought him in for a head coaching interview despite already having decided to choose Brian Daboll to fill their vacancy. Well, it seems Flores' lawsuit against the NFL hasn't deterred some teams' interest in him as a potential head coach. Per Aaron Wilson, Flores is among the final three candidates for the Houston Texans‘ head coaching gig, joining the likes of Josh McCown and Jonathan Gannon in the running.

Flores has been linked to the Texans' job ever since he was let go by the Dolphins. He has a reported connection with Deshaun Watson, and the two have expressed interest in teaming up in the past.

Among the aforementioned candidates, it seems clear that Flores is the best choice for the job. Experience alone speaks volumes, and Flores trumps the other two candidates in that regard. Gannon, who was the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator in 2021, has only one year of experience at that level. Prior to the DC job in Philly, Gannon had served as an Indianapolis Colts' assistant, before earning the title of defensive backs coach.

McCown, on the other hand, has zero coaching experience. His qualifications as a candidate are lacking, though the Texans have been said to be enamored with the prospect of bringing McCown on board.

While Flores is a step above the rest in terms of his coaching history, he is also the only candidate actively suing all 32 NFL teams, which could certainly impact his ability to be hired.
