The Utah Jazz might not have the best record in the NBA like last season, but they're still in the thick of the playoff mix at 36-22. While injuries have played a part in their struggles at times, there are also certain players who aren't playing up to their potential.

Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are once again carrying the Jazz on a nightly basis. Jordan Clarkson meanwhile has seen his numbers dip slightly after a fantastic campaign in 2020/21. However, there is one veteran in particular who must be a lot better in the second half.

1 Jazz Player With Most to Prove After 2022 All-Star Break

The Jazz acquired Mike Conley in 2019 from the Grizzlies after they handed the keys of the franchise to Ja Morant. While Conley played very well in his first two seasons in Utah, including an All-Star appearance last year, he's been struggling in 2021/22.

The 34-year-old is averaging just 13.8 points per night, his lowest total since 2011/12. While his assists numbers and shooting are still respectable (41% from downtown), he just isn't finishing at the rate the Jazz need if they're going to make a serious playoff run. Remember, this team already lost another important piece in Joe Ingles to an ACL injury and now he's been traded off to the Portland Trail Blazers.

While Mitchell and Gobert essentially show out every night, Conley is a regular first unit player who needs to produce. For example, his last three outings before the All-Star Break, he notched just eight, two, and six points. That was against a few brutal defensive teams too in the Magic, Lakers, and Rockets. Don't get me wrong, he's a tremendous playmaker and that's definitely integral to getting the offense going around him. But Conley needs to make more of his opportunities to score.

The Jazz has lowered his usage this season by around 3%. Nonetheless, we all know he's capable of putting up much better numbers. Let's hope he can do so in the second half and help Utah make a run.
