Star Wars‘ latest Disney+ series, The Acolyte, has premiered — here's how to watch the new series. This is the latest live-action Star Wars series and the first since Ahsoka (which ran from August to October 2023).

Where to watch The Acolyte?

It almost goes without saying that The Acolyte is streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series premiered its first two episodes on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.

Six more episodes will follow in the subsequent weeks. Fans can watch new episodes of The Acolyte as they are released every Tuesday through July 16. That means there will be episodes on June 11, 18, and 25, as well as July 2, 9, and 16.

What is The Acolyte about?

The Acolyte takes place at the end of the High Republic era, meaning it takes place well before the Skywalker Saga. It depicts an investigation conducted by the Jedi after a string of crimes.

Leslye Headland created the series and directed the first two episodes of the Star Wars series. She first gained notoriety for writing and directing Bachelorette in 2012. She has since co-created Russian Doll for Netflix with Amy Poehler and Natasha Lyonne.

As showrunner, Headland is an Executive Producer and Writer of The Acolyte. Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jason Micallef, and Jeff F. King also executive produce the series. Other producers include Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Rob Bredow, and Eileen Shim.

Other directors include Kogonada, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Hanelle Culpepper. Kogonada recently directed the acclaimed film After Yang while Culpepper is known for directing episodes of Parenthood and Star Trek: Discovery.

Amandla Stenberg, most known for her performance in The Hate U Give, leads the series playing the dual roles of Osha and Mae. Stenberg first gained notoriety with their role in The Hunger Games. They would subsequently appear in Rio 2, Dear Evan Hansen, and Bodies Bodies Bodies. Additionally, Stenberg had roles in TV series such as Sleepy Hollow and The Eddy.

Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae also stars in the series with Stenberg. Dafne Keen (Logan), Charlie Barnett (Chicago Fire), Jodie Turner-Smith (White Noise), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), and Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll) also star in the series.

Star Wars' other Disney+ series

The Acolyte is far from the first Star Wars Disney+ series. The first live-action series in Star Wars was The Mandalorian. It is still running to this day with three seasons and a feature film coming down the pike under its belt.

The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka have followed suit as fellow live-action Star Wars series.

This has helped mask the void that Star Wars has left on the big screen. There has not been a feature film released on the big screen from Star Wars since Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. The Mandalorian premiered a month or so before Episode 9 was released and has anchored the franchise since.

Of course, Star Wars will return to the big screen soon. There is a Mandalorian and Grogu film coming. Additionally, Daisy Ridley will return to the role of Rey Skywalker in an upcoming film from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

The Acolyte will premiere a new episode on June 11 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on Disney+.
