Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler will share the screen in the upcoming prequel ‘The Hunger Games The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.'

In the film, Zegler is the District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird. While Blyth will play the role of young Coriolanus Snow before he becomes president of Panem.

Now, we know so much about President Snow during The Hunger Games film series. He's an old tyrannical leader who's fond of white roses. But behind that is another character we have yet to see.

Tom Blyth as Young Coriolanus Snow

Coriolanus Snow was born in the Capitol to a once-prominent family that fell on hard times. He grew up in luxury but had to face the decline of his family's status. His mother died during childbirth when he was five, and his father, a military general, was killed by a rebel sniper.

Despite their struggles, Snow maintained a facade of prosperity.

In fact, he was a top-performing student at the Academy. Later on, he became a mentor for the District 12 female tribute, Lucy Gray Baird during the 10th Hunger Games. But his mentorship took an unexpected turn when Lucy Gray's musical performance enchanted the capitol.

Snow and Lucy Gray bonded, and he found himself drawn into the machinations of the Capitol's Hunger Games organizers.

When an explosion occurred during a visit to the Capitol Arena, Lucy Gray saved Snow's life, and he developed a deeper connection with her.

Snow as a Peacekeeper

As their relationship progressed, Snow's involvement with Lucy Gray and a rebel plot grew more complex. He even resorted to drastic measures to protect her and secure her victory in the Hunger Games.

Despite these actions, he ended up being offered the choice of enrolling in the Peacekeepers or having his crimes exposed.

Snow chose to become a Peacekeeper and was assigned to District 12, hoping to reunite with Lucy Gray.

However, the reality of his new life was far from his expectations. The work was tedious, and conditions were harsh. A lot of tragic series of events also unfolded, leading to an uncertain future for Snow.

Snow as a Gamemaker

At some point, Snow took an officer's test hoping to end up in District 2. But his life took an unexpected turn and was diverted back to the Capitol. From there, he continued his studies at the University and began his training as a Hunger Games apprentice Gamemaker under the watchful eye of Dr. Gaul.

Under Dr. Gaul's guidance, Snow introduced innovations like the Victors' Villages and got a firsthand understanding of the true nature of the Hunger Games. Later, he discovered that his father Crassus Snow and Dean Highbottom played a role in creating the Hunger Games.

But that didn't stop Snow in his ambitions.

The President of Panem

Snow soon rose to power where he became a cunning and ruthless dictator. He ruled over Panem with absolute authority, heading the Capitol's government, overseeing the annual Hunger Games, and maintaining control over the districts.

He stopped at nothing to suppress any signs of rebellion.

His manipulation extended to threatening Katniss Everdeen, Gale Hawthorne, Peeta Mellark, and their families. He even murdered Haymitch Abernathy's loved ones as punishment for a stunt that made the Capitol appear foolish.

Most importantly—Snow's cruelty was evident in his use of poison against potential enemies, resulting in permanent sores inside his mouth.

To conceal the scent of blood from the sores, Snow always wore a genetically engineered rose, a symbol of his power and the ruthlessness of his rule.

To sum it up, there's a challenge for Tom Blyth in portraying young Coriolanus Snow. Based on his character, he has to be fresh in the capitol's ways but at the same time conniving and ambitious.

We'll see how Blyth will give justice to Snow on The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' premiere on November 17.
