Avid collectors of NBA cards and cards of all kinds have religiously flocked to retail stores to get their fix for a long time. After this week, these people can scratch Target from their list after an important announcement from the company.
Target released a statement suspending the sale of card-related products from their stores after an incident of violence erupted in one of their branches in Wisconsin. The incident in question involved the assault of a male buyer by four men right after he purchased sports cards from the store. The suspects have been apprehended by the police and held for their involvement in the said assault.

According to the statement, Target is temporarily halting the sale of cards to prioritize the safety of their staff and customers. The products that have been suspended are NBA cards, NFL, MLB, and Pokemon cards, among others. Target added that interested customers can still purchase these products through their online store.
During the past year or so, the card industry has experienced a drastic surge in demand and value. Pokemon and NBA cards, in particular, are often the most sought-after card products found in various retail stores, such as Target. This trend has prompted these retail companies to impose certain guidelines, like limiting the purchase per customer, to control the huge demand from the market.
