The Dallas Cowboys defense has been abysmal so far this season, and the team's fans have had no issue venting their frustration.

On the daily Locked On Cowboys podcast, hosts Marcus Mosher and Landon McCool to discuss what is the issue with the Dallas defense so far in 2020. McCool discussed Mike Nolan’s struggling defense this year but explains it is largely due to the fact that the full playbook is not close to being installed.

McCool: Too simple, huh? It seems to me that complex would be a little bit better and installing something complex in a shortened season when you’re actually supposed to get extra time with your team and not having a training camp or a preseason, it’s almost like that may have an effect on your ability to install something complex.

So that’s my take here. That we gave this [Cowboys] defense, the cover one, cover three, one call defense, a decade to go out of style, and now we’re trying something new and everyone is so ready after six games and a ton of circumstances and the most unique NFL season in NFL history. I think we can say that right? Maybe outside of World War II? I think there should be a little bit more leeway for this type of system. Again, for anyone who wants to argue with me, the problem is that this team hasn’t even finished installing the playbook. Complaining about the play calls when they have 25 percent of the playbook in and their only answers are within that 25 percent of the playbook, I can understand why that’s problematic. I can understand why that’s an issue.
